Can you believe it’s almost September? I hope you’ve had a great summer.
Last week my godsons stopped by to see us, and they reminded us that school starts this week. I got to thinking about the days when my Mom took me to the “dime store” and we picked up school supplies. Dad, who was a teacher at the time, was pulling out lesson plans and figuring out which kids in his class had older siblings who had been through his classroom.
I’m glad I grew up in a house where continuous learning was emphasized as being critical to success. I’ve carried that with me into my years as an entrepreneur, and it has served me well. There’s no doubt that the Internet moves quickly; we have got to make time to keep up with it to sustain our online presence.
What’s on your plate for this fall? A refresh of your website? New content? New services? New products? What do you need to learn to make that happen? Starting today, you can get help at 30% off.
- Learn more about your website, blog, or Joomla site; sharpen your skills so that you can update your site yourself. Visit www.ToolieCoaching.com and make an appointment for one-on-one coaching.
- Refresh the look of your website this Fall. You don’t have to do a complete overhaul, you could just take advantage of a “website update package” that might include a new header, new buttons and graphics, or an introductory video. Visit www.ToolieWebDesign.com for ideas and to view my portfolio of over 40 websites and blogs.
- Add new feature to your website, like StarDevelop’s Live Help, that improves your connection to your website visitors. For a one-time purchase and installation fee, you could add the same feature to your site. Visit www.ToolieSofwareSetups.com to learn more.
These are just some of the ideas I have for you! I’ve been learning some new things myself in the last 6 months, and I’ll share them with you over the next few weeks.
All you have to do to get started is to make an appointment. Use this link: http://www.toolie.com/links/initialconsultation and we’ll work together to bring your ideas into reality.
Talk to you soon!

We’ve just announced 3 new training webinars to be held this month, sponsored by Tooliedotter Press. These free events are designed for individuals, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who have not yet taken full advantage of the opportunities available to them by selling goods and services over the Internet.
The first one is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th at 11 am Pacific/2 pm Eastern time, entitled “What Makes a Website (or Blog) Work?” Whether you create a website yourself, use a site-builder provided by your web hosting company, or use blogging software to create a website, there are key features that every site needs to help your customers decide to buy your products and services. In this webinar, we will cover those essential features and show you how to make a plan to update your site as needed.
The next 2 webinars are scheduled for August 18th and August 23rd. The public is invited to sign up on our website, http://www.workonyourwebsite.com/events.html. Full details can be found on that page.

This month marks the 20th anniversary of the World Wide Web! To celebrate the occasion, Tooliedotter Press is announcing that August is National ”Work On Your Website” month. We’re holding special online events to raise awareness about the need for training so that small business owners can successfully market themselves on the Internet.
With the recent economic downturn persisting as it has, many small businesses are struggling to survive. While the Internet presents them with opportunities to tap into a global audience, most small business owners do not know how or where to find the training they need to market their businesses on the Internet.
Tooliedotter Press has established the Internet Business Literacy Project to draw attention to the need for web skill-building and Internet Marketing training. We produce and sell training tailored for entrepreneurs, virtual assistants, small business owners, authors, speakers, and other solo-preneurs. On this website, we’ve assembled a list of free and low-cost resources that have been utilized by our publisher and spokesperson, Jocelyn ‘Toolie®’ Garner. Toolie will be posting to this blog and hosting related events.
We welcome your comments and suggestions for collaboration with other organizations that support small businesses.

The world of Internet Marketing is viewed with skepticism as a place where get-rich-quick schemes take advantage of unsuspecting buyers. In reality, many small businesses profit quite well from doing business online, treating their customers with respect and courtesy, and delivering both physical and digital products and services over the Internet.
Our mission is to:
- Shift the perception that Internet Marketing involves only unscrupulous tactics, rather than legitimate, permission-based marketing that is welcomed by online visitors.
- Raise awareness of the global opportunities that the Internet provides for entrepreneurs and small businesses, especially for out-of work individuals with skills and knowledge to share.
- Assist small businesses in refining their marketing messages, products, and services to attract their desired customers.
- Empower website and blog owners to operate their own sites by concentrating on simple, navigable designs that they can maintain themselves.
- Teach fundamental technologies and skills such as HTML, CSS, Internet video, email marketing, and social media marketing to business owners to enhance their online presence.
- Teach best practices based in permission marketing and anti-SPAM compliance, and focus on effective marketing techniques that withstand the test of time.
Our primary sponsor, Tooliedotter Press, provides products and services that address many of these needs, but we welcome the interest and involvement from companies who would like to sponsor future activities.
